USA travel advice for those travelling from the UK

The following information is for those travelling to the US from the UK.

If you are travelling from the UK, you can enter US and be exempt from self-isolate if you:

  • can demonstrate you are fully vaccinated with any COVID-19 vaccine approved for emergency use by the World Health Organisation or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Fully vaccinated passengers arriving to the US from the UK must get a COVID-19 test no more than 3 days before their flight departs.
  • If you are fully vaccinated, you do not have to quarantine.

If you are unvaccinated, you can enter the US from the UK if you:

  • have an exception or US Citizens, US Nationals, and US Lawful Permanent Residents will be able to enter the US unvaccinated.
  • Most travellers that are not fully vaccinated will need to test no more than one day before travel or present a negative result or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months to the airline before boarding the flight.


    • Is it a requirement to wear a mask in the US?

    All passengers on flights to and from the US must wear a medical mask, according to US airport regulations. Check with your airline about onboard requirements.

    UK return covid test from the US

    If you are returning from the US to the UK, you are required to take a pre-departure test 3 days prior to your departure if you are not fully vaccinated.

    Those who are not fully vaccinated will still need to take the pre-departure test. This can be an antigen test or a PCR test. You can order our antigen test kit online and take it with you on your trip to use as a pre-departure test for your return to the UK.
